Gin o'clock

Good news: I've finished all the renders for comic 14! Woop woop etc!

Also good news; it's Friday and after 5pm. The gin; she beckons. She beckons hard. Real hard.

It's been a big week; rendering all done; Terry Pratchett died (sadface), Jeremy Clarkson something something (indifferent face), and to top it all off; this beautiful, wonderful pilot  made my effing day!

So it's time to kick your shoes off, pour a tall one and fart the week away. Pfrrrrp.

First touch...

I seem to have recovered from my plateau of no rendering, and have done another batch of comic rendering, taking the current work-in-progress up to a dizzying total of 53 pages!

We're nearly there, a little more of this, a touch of that, a good hard dose of you-know-what and some sort of ending and we'll be ready to distribute comic #14! Yay!

 Well I've totally stalled in production of the next comic. I've done 50 something pages and then just completely gone brain-dead.

It happens sometimes, when I'm like all guns blazing for a project and then the part of my brain that's churning it all out just goes a bit cross-eyed and says "NOPE". It's weird, I mean it's not like I've run out of ideas nor the time to get stuff done, I've just sort of gone off the boil for actually getting on with it. Like I need another break to

Three weeks of mayhem

Well Christmas was ... typical, I guess. Lots of craziness and burning out, then a week or so of chilling properly before work starts again.

I've done a few more pages on the latest comic, and it's shaping up nicely. I've also started a blog (hence not blogging here for a while), where I note down my script ideas; mostly because that way I don't have the awkward stupid thing of doing the render and sitting there in photoshop wondering what the hell I was thinking the characters were going to say when I setup that particular scene, and inevitably adding some stupid / sarcastic comment which doesn't really work when you read the comic through as a flowing storyline. Hopefully noting down the script will improve the language and make stuff flow a bit better...


It's also a hidden/private blog so don't bother accessing it. It was public but then I don't want people having that much tempting access to a treasure-trove of spoilers!

Anyway, December also held some amusing news, a random pic I put on Renderosity was added to the Staff Picks again; their equivalent of an "Ooh, look at you, didn't you do well?" pat on the back. I say it's amusing because I've been banned from Renderosity so many times (normally for breaching nudity/decency rules) and yet they always seem to herald my work!

For some reason I've always had that sort of relationship with Renderosity - flouting their rules and often getting locked out for being naughty, whilst at the same time being encouraged to do more.. anyway.

Another January, more time to catch up with binning things and deciding not to waste time on stupid blogs or old hobbies that just .. won't .. die .... :)

Firmware in progress

Comic 14's well underway. Pretty sure it'll be called 'Firmware', and will be unusual in that none of the normal crew will feature in it - just a few scenes on the Wraith in this one. But rest assured, they'll be good scenes. And you may be able to guess from the title what sort of goings-on will occur. Likely to do with reprogramming the droid, and also likely to do with something being 'firm'. There, I've said too much, let's

Cloth dynamics..

Oh Ix you cheeky thing, you. I should probably spend less time playing with dynamic cloth deformation, but to be honest, it's a ripping good fun hobby. It's weird how something boring and physics-y can actually be jolly hot.

Sorry I'm using the word jolly a lot these days, I guess because Christmas is nearly upon us.

Anyway, the cool thing about cloth deformation physics is that in order to fit the item of clothing to a figure,

So like although I'm scratching round for time to complete the next comic (though it is half done already) - I seem to be dedicating more time to creating props and scenarios for the comic after next instead. Crazyballs.

Comic 13: Pegasus' Wraith

So like my thirteenth comic is done! Woop etc! I figured out how to combine scenes (and save a few upcoming ones for the next comic) so it's not a ninety-page behemoth comic, but is more manageable and svelte.

This one's optimised for mobile, in fact I'd recommend Perfect Viewer as you can set it up to play through pages in landscape so each half will fit nicely. Probably.

Anyway, hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did making it :)

The big-comic / little-comic dilema

OK I've got to the stage where I'm just fantasising more and more scenarios and then creating them in  3D and it's just not healthy! 

Problem is, my original idea for a comic is long gone and I'm left with lots of little bits of comics all over the place so I now need to decide: make it short and sweet (like Blue Steel or A Fairy Good Deal, which I thought were good ones), or combine everything into an epic comic, like Dive into the Dark. Also good. 

Weeell, I think I've decided to chop it up a bit. That way I can release a comic soon, and have plenty in the bank to release another one fairly soon in the new year probably. Which would be cool. So that's what I think I'll do :)

The plot's all coming together, suffice to say there'll be boobs and willies flying about all over the place, and some darkness and some loveliness. Which is nice.

The very terrible comic...

With just about every comic I've done there's always this moment when you read back what you've done so far and go "Oh. Bugger. This is rubbish"

Normally you get over it, you tweak it or get to a the meat of the plot/situation you're trying to tell the story of, and the comic comes together. But in this case it's dragging its heels a bit. I've got to page 40 and nothing much has happened; there've been some in-depth chats, a couple of gags and an awkward
meeting but somehow it seems a bit flat. I think I probably need to
